申请问答
问:我可以申请加州理工的春季学期吗?
答:我们只接受秋季入学的申请。请在申请截止日期页面了解更多信息。
问:我可以免交SAT或者SAT Subject成绩吗?
答:所有新生都必须提交我们要求的考试成绩(SAT或者ACT、SAT数学Level 2以及一门科学课程的成绩)。
问:如果我在截止日期之后才拿到考试成绩怎么办?
答:我们接受你在截止日期之前参加的考试。比如我们在11月1日之后接受10月份的考试成绩,而不接受11月份的考试成绩。
问:加州理工会审核音乐或者艺术补充部分(music or art supplements)吗?
答:我们不需要也不会审核艺术和音乐补充部分,但是这并不意味着我们对STEM(Science,Technology,Engineering,Mathematics)之外的才能不感兴趣,你仍然可以在申请中告诉我们你参加的艺术和音乐活动。
问:什么样的教师推荐信(teacher evaluation)符合人文科学或者社会科学的教师推荐信?
答:教授以下课程的教师可以写人文科学或社会科学的教师推荐信:
- 英语、文学
- 非英语的外语
- 哲学、宗教
- 历史、政府、政治学、美国研究、地理、经济学
- 心理学、社会学、人类学
问:我在申请中可以提交几份推荐信?
答:我们要求你不要提交超过5份推荐信。在我们要求的2份推荐信之外,你还可以额外提交1份研究项目的导师或者实习期直属上司的推荐信。
问:如果我申请了加州理工的EA,被录取之后我必须入学吗?
答:EA不同于其他学校的ED或者REA(Restrictive Early Action,即有约束力的早申请),我们的EA是没有约束力的,这意味着你申请EA之后,仍然可以在5月1日之前决定是否入学加州理工。
问:如果我没有在EA阶段被录取,那么我可以重新申请RD吗?
答:如果你在EA阶段没有被加州理工录取,那么你就不能在同一年的RD阶段重新申请。
问:如果我被加州理工录取,我必须住校吗?
答:所有的新生都要求住校,大一之后,你可以自由选择。但是大部分学生在4年期间都会选择住校,而且经常是住同一间宿舍。
问:AP、IB或者其他大学的成绩可以转为加州理工的学分吗?
答:我们不会自动为学生转换AP、IB或者大学等级课程的学分。如果你决定在加州理工入学,我们会在夏季有个入学考试,考试科目为数学、物理和化学。
问:我会被加州理工的某个具体专业录取吗?
答:不会。我们会整体审核你的申请,而不会以具体的专业进行审核。在Common Application中我们会询问你感兴趣的专业,因为我们想更多地了解你对STEM的兴趣。如果被录取,你需要在2学期后明确你的专业。
